Introduction
The topic we are going to tell about today is Artificial Intelligence (AI) related to the field of technology, which we know by the name of artificial intelligence, so let us know that what is Artificial Intelligence, how Artificial Intelligence was developed, types of AI, how much this technology is useful for human society and what are the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence.
What is Artificial Intelligence(AI)
The literal meaning of Artificial Intelligence is the intellectual ability developed in an artificial way, it is a technique in which a computer after understanding the instructions being given in its program, preserves them and based on that, understanding the future needs. Takes decisions and acts accordingly. Through this it has now become possible to communicate between machines. Speech recognition, visual perception, language identification and decision making can be described under this technique.
The father of this technique is John McCarthy. This technology revolutionized the robotics field. Through this, a computer system or robotic system is created, which is tried to be operated on the basis of the same principles, on the basis of which the human brain works. It works on the principle of fully reactive, limited memory, self-conscious and brain.
Development of Artificial Intelligence(AI)
John McCarthy is said to be the father of Artificial Intelligence, but his friends Marbin Miskey, Herbert Simon, Elaine Nebel etc. also made important contributions to this research work. The development of this technique started only in the 1950s, but its importance was recognized in the 1970s. When Japan first took the initiative and in the year 1981 started a plan called Fifth Generation. In this, the outline of a 10-year program for the development of supercomputers was presented.
Britain made a project for this named 'Albee'. The European Union also started a program called 'Esprit' in this context. In the year 1983, some private organizations together established a micro electronics and computer technology to develop advanced technologies, such as Berry Large Scale Integrated Circuits, to be applied to artificial intelligence.
Types of Artificial Intelligence(AI)
There are mainly two types of artificial intelligence, which are as follows:
Type 1
- Narrowed artificial intelligence – these can only perform a single task, for example – voice recognition.
- General Artificial Intelligence – This type of intelligence has the ability to perform human-like tasks. To date, no such machine has been developed.
- Excellent artificial intelligence – AI has the ability to outperform a human. However, research is still going on on this.
Type 2
- Reactive Machine – This machine reacts rapidly to any situation. It is not able to store any data for present or future use. It works according to the fed data.
- Limited memory – This machine can collect a small amount of data for a limited period of time. Examples of this are self-driving cars and video games.
- Theory of Mind – These are machines that understand human emotions, they are much more intelligent. However, such machines have not yet been developed. Hence the concept is completely hypothetical.
- Self Awareness – These types of machines have the quality of doing better work than humans. It is another matter that till date, no such machine has been developed. However, continuous efforts are being made in this direction.
Uses of artificial intelligence
- The most important use of this technology can be in the health sector. This technique can help in surgery, supervision, etc., as well as treatment can be done in rural areas with its help. By this the misuse of pesticides and fertilizers can be prevented. Through this there is a possibility of revolution in the manufacturing industry.
- This technology is also of great importance from the point of view of defense. For example, robots can be used in place of soldiers in war or on the border. Also, fraud detection, online fraud etc. can be controlled in the field of cyber security.
- It can be important in the field of education, because it can facilitate tasks like teaching management, it can help in the operation of grading system and save time.
- It can easily perform risky tasks as compared to humans. Its functions will be less prone to error. Complex software can be simplified to understand, thereby reducing the expenditure of resources and time.
- The use of technologies such as robotics and virtual reality changes the way we work, which has seen a revolutionary change in the methods of production and manufacturing.
- This technology is currently used by financial institutions and banking institutions to organize and manage data. Artificial intelligence also helps in the discovery of mineral resources. At the same time, its potential use in the energy sector increases power balance and use efficiency.
- Artificial intelligence is used for automated driver autonomous tracking, delivery and better traffic management. It can also be used in the development of smart cities and infrastructure. At present, Chief Justice Bobde has also advocated this and said that justice will not be delayed by adopting it.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence.
Advantages of Artificial Intelligence
- It defines a more powerful and more useful computer
- It features a new and improved interface for human interaction.
- It introduces a new technology to solve new problems.
- It handles information better than humans.
- It is very helpful in converting information into knowledge.
- It improves work efficiency hence reducing the time duration to complete a task as compared to humans.
Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence
- The implementation cost of AI is very high.
- The difficulties with software development for AI work is that software development is slow and costly. There are few skilled programmers available to develop software to implement Artificial Intelligence.
- A robot is one of the implementations of artificial intelligence with which they replace jobs and serve the unemployment.
- Machines can easily cause destruction if the machine is put in the wrong hands the consequences are dangerous to human beings.
India's efforts in the field of Artificial Intelligence
- The Government of India is planning to promote research, training, skill development etc. in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Manufacturing, Big Data Intelligence, Robotics, Real Time Data and Quantum Communication.
- The Prime Minister of India underlined the importance of digital economy and artificial intelligence at the G-20 summit held in Osaka in June 2019. A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar with the aim of making the benefits of artificial intelligence technology accessible to the general public, in which apart from the representative of the government, representatives of academia and industry are also included.
- NITI Aayog is preparing the framework for the National Artificial Intelligence Program. Along with this, NITI Aayog is going to start a training program with Google Company to change the way of doing business in the country through Artificial Intelligence. The central government has also appealed to the industry for cooperation in making a model for artificial intelligence.
- To promote Artificial Intelligence, the Government of India has prepared a one-point strategy, in which research and development in the context of this technology has been increased, security, ethical, legal and social aspects have been given a prominent place.
